This week we have two highly anticipated films releasing and it looks like this will be a really interesting contest to see who takes that number one spot and who takes the number two. The two films are Straight Outta Compton, a biopic following NWA back in a time where they were at their peak, and The Man from U.N.C.L.E, a spy movie starring the Man of Steel himself; Henry Cavill. Two completely different films so lets get into a preview of each.
Firstly we have Straight Outta Compton which is a biopic following the Hip-Hop group NWA that consisted of Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Eazy-E, DJ Yella, and Arabian Prince. I am not really familiar with many of their songs apart from their really big ones that are still used today, but i am so EXCITED for this movie. This trailer was awesome and ever since i have been so curious to see how this story would unfold and how they can tell it in a compelling manner. The fact the Ice Cube’s son is going to be playing his father also makes me really curious to see how he does in the acting realm because as you can see below he looks exactly like a young Ice Cube. Everything i have seen of this film so far has been overwhelmingly positive so i cannot wait to catch this movie when it releases. Anyway here is the red-band trailer to get a look for yourself.
Next up is The Man from U.N.C.L.E, a spy film and an action thriller that has a similar feel to a bond film but a little more campy and silly. I have liked the trailers, not to the point where i was excited for the movie but to the point where i might go see it when it releases. Besides, seeing Henry Cavill, Armie Hammer, and Alicia Vikander playing spies from the USA and Russia is going to be great. I am especially excited to see how Alicia Vikander is in this movie because i absolutely loved her in Ex Machina, it is one of my favourite movies of the year and her performance is my favourite so far in 2015. So there you have it, two huge films releasing in the same week and two very different movies that will probably draw in two different audiences. My guess is that Straight Outta Compton will grab the number one position at the Box Office mainly due to the fact that there is also another high octane action film in theatres at the same time known as Mission Impossible, it won’t take much from it but it will be enough to prevent it getting that top spot.
